812 GERIATRIC PERIOPERATIVE CARE IS ASSOCIATED WITH REDUCED LENGTH OF STAY IN UROLOGY PATIENTS

Abstract Introduction Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) is associated with reduced length of stay and perioperative complications in older orthopaedic, gastrointestinal vascular surgical patients [1,2,3]. Limited published data from a single UK centre [4] reports reproducing these outcomes urological setting. It unclear whether can be repeated other centres. Method We piloted Perioperative Care service delivering CGA to emergency urology admitted within tertiary centre. The aim the was reduce hospital (LOS). evaluated it using quality improvement methodology. Patients for review were identified age ≥ 65 Clinical Frailty Scale. that transferred another team prior discharge excluded. Results 101 included: 35 pre-intervention group 66 post-intervention group. Mean LOS 7 days. In group, mean 3.5 days, 6 days 5.5 first, second third months respectively. Conclusion found geriatric care patients. These would support need larger and/or multicentre studies evaluate relationship between intervention inpatients stay.
